  • Orders of Protection

Many people do not know that they have options with regards to how to approach and resolve family law issues. Let us help you take control and provide you with creative options that others may not take the time to suggest or pursue. Specifically, not all family law cases need to go through court/litigation process. For example in a divorce or paternity case, individuals may decide that Collaborative Divorce, Mediation or Uncontested Divorce is the right choice for them.

Collaborative Law (also called Collaborative Practice, Collaborative Divorce, and Collaborative Family Law) is a family law process enabling couples who have decided to separate or end their marriage to work with their lawyers and, if needed, other family professionals in order to avoid the uncertain outcome of Court and to achieve a settlement that best meets the specific needs of both parties and their children without the underlying threat of contested litigation. This process usually results in less cost, and less contention which benefits the parties and their children. The voluntary and confidential process is initiated when the couple signs a contract (the Participation Agreement ), binding each other to the process, committing to keep their case out of Court and disqualifying their respective lawyer’s right to represent either one in any future family related litigation.

Mediation is an excellent way for people to try to resolve their disputes. Mediation is a confidential process in which a neutral mediator (usually an attorney or other trained professional) helps the parties reach an agreement on their own without attorney or court involvement. One of our attorneys can assist with being the neutral mediator/facilitator to help you reach a thoughtful and thorough outcome without putting the power to make decisions about your family in the hands of someone who does not know you or your family.
